What Is The Mortgage Charter?

Updated: Aug 4, 2023

In this week's post, Jonathan Fowler discusses the mortgage charter - a scheme agreed by the majority of UK lenders, the FCA and the Government - in an attempt to assist residential mortgage holders with some short-term support if they are struggling keeping up with mortgage payments amongst the ongoing cost of living crisis.

If you have any questions, or just want to understand this further, reach out to us at Fowler Smith Mortgages & Protection.

As ever, you should always speak to your lender directly if you're struggling to keep up with mortgage payments, or feel that you may do in the future.

Full details on the mortgage charter can be found on the Government website and should be read and reviewed directly, and discussed with your lender: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/mortgage-charter/mortgage-charter

YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE
